Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport where you can reach. It is well connected to major cities of India. You can take a layover or direct flight if you’re coming from another part of India. From the Airport, you can hire a taxi or choose public transport to reach Sonprayag. If you want to do a trek, reach Gaurikund and start trekking which is around 16 to 18 km long. If you want to take shuttle service to Kedarnath then you can stop in Guptkashi/Phata or Sersi.
By Train
Take a train to Haridwar Railway Station/Rishikesh Railway Station, the nearest railway station to Kedarnath. After reaching Haridwar or Rishikesh, take a bus or hire a private taxi to Guptkashi/Phata or Sonprayag as per your plan.From Sonprayag, take the shared Jeep ride to Gaurikund and start 16 km trek to Kedarnath which takes around 4-6 hours as per your speed.
By Road
Suppose, you are starting your journey from Delhi, take National Highway 334 towards Haridwar. From Haridwar, take NH34 to reach Rishikesh. Now, take NH7 (Badrinath Road or Karnaprayag-Haridwar Road). Then, take Rudraprayag Bypass Road, NH107 (Kedarnath Road) which will connect you to the Triyuginarayan Road towards Sonprayag.

May-June - This is the ideal time to plan your trip as the weather is pleasant with comfortable temperatures. Plan early as pilgrims flock during the summer, for a hassle-free journey.
July-August - It is the monsoon season, and the frequent rainfall increases the risk of landslides in the region which is not considered safe.
September-October - The Autumn season brings mild temperatures and fewer crowds.
November-April - Harsh winter months and heavy snowfall in the region. So, the temple is closed during the winter.
Gaurikund - It is a base camp for the Kedarnath trek. This revered site is said to be where Goddess Parvati undertook a prolonged period of meditation to win the love and acceptance of Lord Shiva as her husband.
Lincholi - A small hamlet, a significant stopover for pilgrims and trekkers. It is located around 11 km from Gaurikund. If you are not capable of doing a 16 km trek in one go, then you can also stay in Lincholi.
Vasuki Tal - It is a trekkers’ paradise offering a rigorous but triumphant trail from Kedarnath or Gaurikund.
