We received a letter from the District Forest Officer (DFO) in Rudraprayag, which highlighted that several Swiss tents, regular tents, cottages, and huts have been built without proper authorization on land designated as reserved forest area. This action is in violation of the Indian Forest Act of 1922.
In response, we have promptly removed all such accommodations from our website, and we are not accepting bookings for these properties. It is important to clarify that we neither own nor operate any of these tents, cottages, or huts that are in breach of the law or a court order. Our role is solely that of a travel agency providing tour packages for Chopta.
Chopta is in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary (also known as Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary) which is an eco sensitive zone. In the past, camping in Choptas was prohibited due to a High Court ban.
