1: Can we stay in Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib?

Noone is allowed to stay inside the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. Everyone has to trek back to Ghangaria to stay. In Ghangaria, there is a Gurudwara where you can stay.

2. Do we need registration for Hemkund Sahib?

Yes, registration is mandatory for those devotees who are travelling to Hemkund Sahib & Chardham. Here you can register your group for Hemkund Yatra - https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in.

3: How many days are required to visit Hemkund Sahib?

To complete the Hemkund Sahib Yatra, you require 4-5 days at least. The detailed itinerary is mentioned above.

4. Is there any mobile network in Hemkund Sahib?

In Hemkund Sahib, the network coverage is limited and may not be reliable. While some mobile networks like BSNL & JIO may have limited coverage in the Ghangaria area. It is best to check with your mobile service provider before visiting.

5. Is the Hemkund Sahib trek difficult?

Yes. It is an easy to moderate level trek of a total distance of around 17-18 km from Pulna. First 10 km of trek from Pulna to Ghangaria is easy. And the next 7 km from Ghangaria to Hemkund is quite steep and located above 14000 ft which makes it difficult.

6. How much is trekking in Hemkund Sahib?

From Pulna Village - 10 + 7 = 17 km (one side)
From Govindghat - 14 + 7 = 21 km (one side)

7. Can kids go to Hemkund Sahib?

Yes, kids can go to Hemkund Sahib. But I suggest avoiding taking kids on Yatra, especially if they’re infants or below 5 years of age. The Gurudwar is above 14000 ft and the temperature swings around 10 to 0 degree celsius, which is not an ideal condition for kids.

8. Is ropeway available at Hemkund Sahib?

Currently the ropeway installation & construction work isn’t completed. The expected date of finishing Hemkund Sahib Ropeway is 2024.

9. Does a helicopter go to Hemkund Sahib?

No. Helicopters are only allowed till the Ghangaria basecamp. And from there you can take pony, palki, or pitthu till Hemkund Sahib.

10. How much does a helicopter cost from Ghangaria to Govindghat?

Generally the cost of a helicopter varies from 2500 to 4000 INR.

11. How cold is Hemkund Sahib?

Hemkund Sahib & Ghangaria are at high altitude, that's why the temperature always stays lower side and temperature drops below zero at night.

12. How far is the Valley of Flowers from Hemkund Sahib?

Hemkund Sahib & Valley of Flowers are on two different routes. But the best part is Ghangaria is the common base camp for both the Valley of Flowers & Hemkund Sahib. Walking just 200m from Ghangaria, there is a junction of two routes, one leads to Hemkund Ji & other route leads you to Valley of Flowers.

13. When should I start Hemkund Sahib?

The Hemkund Sahib yatra opening date is 20 May. So you can do your Hemkund Sahib yatra between 20 May to 11 Oct.

14. Can a Hindu visit Hemkund Sahib?

Yes, there is no boundation for any region to visit Hemkund sahib. But make sure you don't disrespect or hurt religious sentiment.
