Rudraprayag is located at the confluence of Mandakini river & Alaknanda river & situated 34 Kms ahead to Srinagar. The place has great religious significance being Gateway to two highly revered Dhams i.e. Kedarnath & Badrinath. The place is named after Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva.   • Koteshwar Mahadev Temple: Koteshwar Mahadev Temple is situated few km from Rudraprayag on the bank of river Alaknanda en route to Srinagar. Lord Shiva is the deity of the temple; the people from far-flung places come here to pay their obeisance at the temple. As per mythology, it is believed that at Koteshwar caves Lord Shiva had prayed to Lord Vishnu to kill demon Bhasmasur & latter pleased by his prayers & killed the demon.
